When Time Stood Still: New Life, New Creation {Riverside County Wedding}

I have known Leslie for over 5 years now, and I am blessed to count her a dear friend.  We’ve walked through some very challenging times together, and I’ve seen her blossom to become more and more like Jesus.  When I got the call that she was engaged, I couldn’t wait to meet Richie.  God reached down to give them the gift of a marriage founded in Christ!  I knew this would be the beginning of a fresh new work of God in their lives, of something truly beautiful, a new creation.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

Leslie, thank you so much for allowing me to join you on this most special of days.  The purple and blue was so lovely; it suited you, friend.   You were the belle of the ball :) .

Richie and Leslie chose to have their first look before the ceremony (but saved their kiss for the pronouncement! ;) .  It was beautiful.  Richie was stunned and Leslie was beaming as they set eyes on each other for the first time that day.  They prayed and asked God’s blessing on the day and their lives together.

Richie, thank you for cherishing Leslie.  Thank you for loving her and the kids with true love that sets its own aside to guide and protect the ones it loves. You have a beautiful bride who loves and respects you very much!

It touched me to see how very full of joy the reception was.  So many happy tears from the bride and groom, family, and friends!

God’s richest blessings upon you, friends.  May He be glorified in all you do, in the new creation He’s made in you, and in the sweetness of your unconditional love.

“Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.  Love never dies”

~ 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a, MSG

Cherish, Love, Remember Always,

We were blessed with a beautiful evening when the Carlson Family joined me for their Mini-Session.

I spent time with each of the children (who aren’t children anymore!), getting to know them a bit and trying to capture glimpses of who they are in their images.  I love this part of my job – though it’s difficult to form any deep connections with people in the 25 minutes I have for Mini-Sessions, I just love taking a sneak peek at the beauty God has poured into each and every soul.

I think this frame grouping looks really nice with their skin tones; it would make a great set of portraits for the wall or a table/desk.

Adorable, three week-old baby Aurora was along for the shoot, and I could tell she’ll be doted on and very well-loved by the family around her.  What a precious gift!

What an incredible treasure God has given you in the lives of your family, Carlsons!  I look forward to showing you the rest of your images – thank you for entrusting the portrait memories of this special time to me!

Sometimes as I create with a family, I am drawn to meditate on how quickly my own children change – every day and every year that passes, each one is becoming more grown up, learning what it means to love one another, assuming more responsibility, maturing to be more like Christ.

I was thinking just these thoughts as I captured portraits for this sweet group of siblings.  These kids (though hardly kids anymore!) have changed and grown so much in the short years I’ve known them.  What a neat family, and what beautiful gifts the Lord has given them in each other!

The brothers told me about their latest electronics projects, including a homemade hologram!

Later the sisters giggled as they talked with one another…

What a precious time in all of your lives!

Tom & Shelley, thank you so much for the privilege of creating with your children.  Cherish these times, and look forward with hope to the bright future each of your children has in the Lord!

Can’t wait to show you the rest of your images…
