When Time Stood Still: An Uncommon Beauty {Canyon Lake Senior Portraits}

It was such a privilege to create with gorgeous Emily.  I worked with her beautiful sister Christin last year for Senior Pictures, and I always feel so honored when I am chosen to again provide portraits for siblings during future years.  With nearly all of my business coming via word-of-mouth, I take it as a high compliment that families return again and again.

Now, let me tell you a little about Emily.  I won’t have to tell you how stunning she is (you can see that for yourself!).

She has a passionate, “opinionated” (in her own words, but read: honest!) intensity that reminds me somehow of a Hollywood star -

one who just exudes glamor without even having to try ;) .

She also is super involved in Club Volleyball, so we found a court in Canyon Lake to get some shots to remember this important part of her life right now.

We were also blessed by a few Canyon Lake residents who graciously allowed us to shoot in front of their amazing homes.

It was so fun to have such gorgeous backgrounds to work with – pairing with Emily perfectly :) .

I kept telling her that these images we created together would compliment a magazine interview perfectly, so when she needs headshots, they’ll be ready :) .

Okay, Emily, when you are a famous kinesiologist or trainer or coach or whatever it is the Lord has in store for you, remember us little people, okay?  ;)

Thanks so much for sharing such a fun afternoon with me.  Can’t wait to show you everything we created together!

When Time Stood Still: Unfading Beauty {Riverside Senior Portraits}

Last weekend Missy and I went walking and talking through downtown Riverside.  We had such a lovely time – she’s easy going, and yet she has an adventurous spirit too.  But the thing I noticed most about Missy was her beauty.  The Lord has given her a beautiful gentleness that His Word calls “unfading” (1 Peter 3:4).  I hope you can catch a glimpse of it in what we created together…

Oh, and to top it off, she’s stunningly gorgeous!

The look she has about her in the above left image reminds me of some famous supermodel – someone help me remember the name? …

Missy, thank you so very much for sharing the morning with me.  You’re a sweet girl – I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for you!

See you soon for your Viewing Appointment.  So excited to show you the rest :) .

Sincerely,

Andrea

When Time Stood Still: A Fun Fall Color Beauty {Hemet Senior Pictures}

I’m back!!  After a long maternity break (and a move into our new home the same weekend our Ellie was born), I am now officially back to work part-time again.  I’ve treasured the focused family time I was given, and I’m also excited to resume creating with my wonderfully patient clients.

On Monday I had the pleasure of creating with Paige, a sweet high school senior friend of mine (who also happens to be gorgeous!).  Our morning started out foggy but then blossomed to include a gorgeous set of fallish tones… It really was a perfect day for an adventurous shoot, so we went for it.

Our first location was a beautiful canyon that’s normally dry, but due to our recent heavy rainfall, there was a stream running through it.  We hiked just a bit and found some beautiful light.

Paige has a God-given sparkle to her eyes; it just draws you in.

Our next location was also normally dry, but there was plenty of water in the riverbed – just the right amount to sink my boots down into the muddy sand up to my ankles, lol.  The light here was also perfect for Paige.

She has such a bubbly joy about her!

I kept telling her that we need to contact her sweater manufacturer and let them know we have new advertising material for them.  Such a beautiful model.

Our final location was up the highway toward Idyllwild, and she rocked this too!

Of course we needed one ON the highway as well…

Okay Miss Paige, if you ever decide to do any modeling as a side job to being a physical therapist, I won’t be surprised if I see you in a magazine one day… :)

Thanks so much for allowing me the pleasure of being the photographer for your Senior Portraits, Paige.  You are truly beautiful inside and out – keep allowing the Lord to shine!

See you soon to show you the rest!

~Andrea

When Time Stood Still: All Part of Growing Up {HS Senior On-location Photography}

What a privilege to capture Senior Portraits for our dear friend from the Northwest, Jason.  After a not-so-great experience with a commercial chain studio, he and his family asked me to take some pictures for him while they were down here in Southern CA for his graduation, and of course, I was honored!  It was so wonderful to see the whole family, who we have considered “family” for years now, beginning when my husband Josh was a Youth Pastor up in the Portland, OR area.

Anyway, I’ve found that most guys don’t really look forward to having their picture taken.  In fact, some really dread it.  The whole saying “cheese”, being on-the-spot, posing awkwardly thing can really be annoying (it’s annoying to me too!).  Who feels like putting on a fake smile for an hour anyway?  So, my style is much more laid back: we have some easy conversation and get to know each other better, we wander around, and I do my best to try to see into who the person is while putting them at ease.  I hope you felt this in your experience.

Thanks for being YOU, Jason.  I had a great time talking with you and observing what a godly, mature man you’ve become.  I hope you and the family enjoy this new set of Senior Portraits – not just as something you had to get done, but as a reminder of the ways God is growing you in this extraordinary time of your life.

Thanks again, and I can’t wait to show you the rest!

Beauty and Dreams {San Jacinto Senior Portraits}

Leah is a beautiful young woman, inside and out.  We had such a fun, relaxed time creating her senior portraits together.  We spoke about some of her experiences learning photography, her schooling and how well it has worked for her, and her plans and dreams for the coming years (let’s just say you’ll WANT to have her in charge of the baking when you go out for your next dessert date!).

Thanks so much, Leah, for allowing me to capture this special time in your life.  Here is your much-anticipated sneak peek:

Yep, she’s gorgeous!

Her creamy skin and deep brown eyes were the perfect compliment to the colors at Country Lake that day.

Thanks again, Leah – I can’t wait to show you the rest! :)

When Time Stood Still: Feminine & Romantic {San Jacinto Senior Portrait Photography}

A couple of weeks ago, Bridget, her mother Margie, and I went exploring through our neighborhood for her Senior Portrait Shoot.  Now, we live in a residential area that is not bad, but not one you’d generally think of as inspirational.  As I’ve said before though, it’s amazing what can be done with “uninspirational” areas, especially when creating with an inspirational subject (that’s you Bridget!).  She did a wonderful job having an open mind, even when it meant laying in a ditch full of weeds.

She has such a quiet beauty about her.  And those eyes!

Most often as I prepare for a shoot, my mind just becomes a well of images, and in this case, the images I envisioned were all delicate and romantic.  One of the first things I noticed about Bridget when we met for our consult was the sweetly feminine air she has about her.  Her easy-going nature and contented joy is a blessing.  And of course, it shows!

At our consultation, she explained how she’s absolutely loved to swing since she was a little girl.  I adore hearing things like this & integrating them into a person’s shoot.  There’s something about putting into print the things a person loves most that just swells my heart.

While we were at her grandparents’ home, I noticed some really cool textures on an old truck & thought they’d look great with Bridget’s eyes & jacket.

We didn’t let the rain stop us, no sir!  :)   I think this one’s super cute.

As we were finishing our session, we headed over to the lake Bridget’s grandfather helped build years ago.  Because of the ties to her family, it was extra special that we got to shoot here.

Bridget, there are so many more I can’t wait to show you!  Thanks for a wonderful time, and we’ll talk soon!

When Time Stood Still: She’s Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy… {Redlands Senior Portraits}

Down in her heart.  Where? ….  Have to admit, I’ve always loved that song, and now that I’ve typed it out, it’ll be hours before the tune drifts fully out of my mind.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of shooting with Lisa at the University of Redlands.  Lisa has the joy – she is the type of person who makes you feel at ease with her gracious, joyful nature.  When serious, Lisa is full of grace, but she knows how to have fun and be silly too.  Lisa enjoys life, and I can tell it’s because the joy of Jesus is her strength.

Lisa was so fun to create with – she was up for anything!

Isn’t she beautiful and serene!

Such a model…

Let’s not forget the silliness of course…

Having fun capturing video – one of her favorite pastimes and a future career pursuit; I’m sure I’ll be saying, “I knew you when…” in just a short while!

Lisa, thanks again for a wonderful afternoon – I can’t wait to set up your View & Order Appointment so you and your family can see what we came up with together!

I just love Nicole.  From the first time we met for our Consult I could tell this was going to be a fun, beautiful shoot.  She has such a zest for life, a sweet heart, and a great outlook – all this just shines through!

Isn’t she beautiful!

After a brief time in San Jacinto, we drove up to Idyllwild for some (COLD) time in the snow :) .

This next one is all vintaged out just for you, Nicole :) .

Seriously, she is both adorable and hilarious!

Our last set was at night on the beautiful Idyllwild Arts Academy campus.

Nicole, thanks for being YOU, and for a wonderful day creating together.  Can’t wait to show you the rest of your images at your View & Order Session!  I hope these images will help you and your loved ones cherish this time in your life and fondly remember it always…

When Time Stood Still: A Young Man of Authenticity {San Jacinto Senior Portrait Photography}

It was so neat to be able to create with Aaron a couple of weeks ago.  Not only is he an accomplished actor, but he also loves the Lord with a sincere heart.  I was encouraged and blessed to talk with him about how faithful God is, and I pray to have captured in Aaron’s images some of the strength that comes from his deep faith.

When a senior chooses to bring his or her Bible along to the shoot, I try to give some ”alone time” with the Lord for a while before shooting any images.  It’s really important to me to make sure any pictures the senior has to remind him of his relationship with God also reminds him of the Truth God spoke in the quiet moments, as the images were taken.  This afternoon ended up being gorgeous – an inspirational place and time for Bible reading.

Aaron also plays the guitar and sometimes leads worship using this gift.  At one point during our time, a couple of ladies walking around the lake asked who he was serenading with such beautiful music, so we told them Aaron was serenading God :) .

Thank you so much, Aaron, for the privilege of capturing this special time in your life.  I look forward to our View & Order Session to show you the rest of your images!

When Time Stood Still | Elegant Grace {Perris and San Jacinto Senior Photography}

Last weekend, I had the joy of creating unique senior portraits with Jessica.  She has such an elegant grace about her - as I envisioned our shoot in the days and weeks preceeding it, I couldn’t help but see her in a field of bright and beautiful flowers.

So, each time I passed by the lavendar bushes in a shopping center near my home, I would think of Jessica; I was so happy she was open to shooting in a place that didn’t necessarily seem all that beautiful.  I often think an on-location photographer’s perspective is so very different from what might be expected; someone sees Panda Express and Denny’s, and I see a ditch full of beauty…. No really, I do.  My husband gives me funny looks for this all the time.  Anyway, the flowers were perfect for her, and she radiated with beauty.

This next one was captured when I told her to look over at her mom… they both couldn’t stop giggling.  It was so cute.  I love the essence of candid laughter.

And here’s that elegant grace again:

After our beautiful lavendar set, we headed out to Lake Perris and some other pretty spots along Ramona Expressway.  I didn’t realize how gorgeous Lake Perris State Park is – doesn’t really seem to be a hot tourist (or local) spot recently, but it really is a lovely place.  Just right for Jessica.

Thanks so much for choosing me to create your Senior Portraits with you, Jessica.  I can’t wait to show you the rest!  I’ll be in touch!
