When Time Stood Still: Adventuresome Love {Idyllwild Family Portraiture}

Have I told you all lately how much I LOVE what I do?

              I need to say it every once in a while, because I’ve been so blessedly overwhelmed with clients in the last six months that I can forget what a blessing it is to be “working” at something I enjoy so much.  Amidst the busy to-and-fro of life and growing and learning and pain and laughter,
I just can’t thank God enough that I get to create and cherish memories with families like the one you’re about to meet.

             When I first met with Cathy for our consult, she was beaming.  She told me the last family pictures they had done were when her youngest was just a toddler.  As she shared a bit about each of the members of her family, I could see what a precious love she has for them, and what a fun-loving spirit bonds them together.  This is no “stare-at-the-TV” kind of family.  We’re talking extreme sports, appreciating the great outdoors for its full potential.

I was honored to hear that Cathy had been following my work for the past year or so and couldn’t wait to finally schedule a custom family portraiture session.

             Cathy, thank you and your family so much for a wonderful afternoon four-bying and just enjoying each other’s company.  Oh and thanks, Matt, for NOT driving us off the numerous cliffs we grazed!  :)   Just kidding.

             I had an awesome time getting to know each of your boys and capturing their unique, fun spirits.

             You and Matt were so adorable, laughing and talking and thinking I couldn’t hear your whispers ;) .

             Here are some of those fun textures you like so much, Cathy…  You all did an excellent job easing into the creative aspects of the images.  What a beautiful (and handsome) family!

             I’m so excited to share the rest of our images with you next week.  Cherish, love, and remember this beautiful time in your lives always!

When Time Stood Still: She’s Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy… {Redlands Senior Portraits}

Down in her heart.  Where? ….  Have to admit, I’ve always loved that song, and now that I’ve typed it out, it’ll be hours before the tune drifts fully out of my mind.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of shooting with Lisa at the University of Redlands.  Lisa has the joy – she is the type of person who makes you feel at ease with her gracious, joyful nature.  When serious, Lisa is full of grace, but she knows how to have fun and be silly too.  Lisa enjoys life, and I can tell it’s because the joy of Jesus is her strength.

Lisa was so fun to create with – she was up for anything!

Isn’t she beautiful and serene!

Such a model…

Let’s not forget the silliness of course…

Having fun capturing video – one of her favorite pastimes and a future career pursuit; I’m sure I’ll be saying, “I knew you when…” in just a short while!

Lisa, thanks again for a wonderful afternoon – I can’t wait to set up your View & Order Appointment so you and your family can see what we came up with together!

I just love Nicole.  From the first time we met for our Consult I could tell this was going to be a fun, beautiful shoot.  She has such a zest for life, a sweet heart, and a great outlook – all this just shines through!

Isn’t she beautiful!

After a brief time in San Jacinto, we drove up to Idyllwild for some (COLD) time in the snow :) .

This next one is all vintaged out just for you, Nicole :) .

Seriously, she is both adorable and hilarious!

Our last set was at night on the beautiful Idyllwild Arts Academy campus.

Nicole, thanks for being YOU, and for a wonderful day creating together.  Can’t wait to show you the rest of your images at your View & Order Session!  I hope these images will help you and your loved ones cherish this time in your life and fondly remember it always…

When Time Stood Still: A Young Man of Authenticity {San Jacinto Senior Portrait Photography}

It was so neat to be able to create with Aaron a couple of weeks ago.  Not only is he an accomplished actor, but he also loves the Lord with a sincere heart.  I was encouraged and blessed to talk with him about how faithful God is, and I pray to have captured in Aaron’s images some of the strength that comes from his deep faith.

When a senior chooses to bring his or her Bible along to the shoot, I try to give some ”alone time” with the Lord for a while before shooting any images.  It’s really important to me to make sure any pictures the senior has to remind him of his relationship with God also reminds him of the Truth God spoke in the quiet moments, as the images were taken.  This afternoon ended up being gorgeous – an inspirational place and time for Bible reading.

Aaron also plays the guitar and sometimes leads worship using this gift.  At one point during our time, a couple of ladies walking around the lake asked who he was serenading with such beautiful music, so we told them Aaron was serenading God :) .

Thank you so much, Aaron, for the privilege of capturing this special time in your life.  I look forward to our View & Order Session to show you the rest of your images!

When Time Stood Still: To Drama with Love {Hemet Acting Headshots}

For the second year in a row now, I’ve been honored to create acting headshots with the Baptist Christian School Drama Department.  I love to shoot with actors and actresses – they’re so great about giving intensity and emotion, and overall, just fun to be around!  Writer/Director-Extraordinaire, Michael Tennant, wanted to offer his class headshots to submit to auditions, performance programs, and such, and I’ve just loved working with them all these past couple of years.  Some of Mr. Tennant’s work will be performed again with many of this class at Mt. San Jacinto College (San Jacinto Campus) this March.  (See MSJC’s musical theater schedule)/

Anyway, here’s a sneak peek of what the Drama students can be expecting on their high-res CDs:

Thanks to you all for creating with me – I can’t wait to get you your CDs.

Cherish every moment, and remember to thank the Lord for the incredible gifts He’s given each of you!

When Time Stood Still : Princesses for a Day {Children’s Studio Photography}

Last month I got to be a princess!  Well, not really, but I was showered with the delight that bubbles up out of princesses :) .  Melanie contacted me a while before Christmas to see if she could set up a photoshoot to surprise her Mom for Christmas.  The fun of it was that Melanie’s daughters and niece would be wearing the costumes their grandmother made for them.  What a lovely idea, Melanie - it was so nice to hear that your gift brought tears of pride and joy along with it!

The girls were absolutely precious… Alice in Wonderland, Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, and Glenda from the Wizard of Oz.

Despite the rainiest conditions we’ve had here since I can remember, we had a wonderful time getting some outdoor shots as well as a whole set of fun studio creations.  (And we even snuck some hot chocolate in there too!)

Emma was such a doll – she has such telling, soulful eyes.

Paige was so much fun – directing us all in our best poses, and quite lady-like!  What a great big sister.

Kasey was a little cutie pie; her new baby sister will be won over with her sweet smile in no time, I’m sure.

Now, I am the mother of two little boys I love dearly, but you can imagine what a treat this was to watch the girls get all frillied up and talk with them in princess voices!  I designed a flowery storyboard for one of the group shots, just for fun.

Thanks so much again Melanie for the privilege of have a “Princess Day”!   Treasure every moment with your beautiful girls, and stay tuned for the next post – I’ll be sharing your Music Video!
