I’ve been looking forward to taking Catalina to Idyllwild for her Senior Portraits for a couple of weeks now, and the wait was so worth it!   We had a really nice time scoping out fun spots – everything from the burned out Bee Canyon to a broken down shack to funky colors in the village.  Thanks for creating with me, Catalina, and thanks to Maria for assisting!  I hope you love your portrait sneak peek as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together.

Toward the end of our shoot, it was COLD, so we warmed up with some drinks at the cozy coffee shop in Idyllwild once we were finished.

Can’t wait to show you the rest at our View & Order Session, Catalina.  Thanks again for allowing me to capture this amazing time in your life!

The Beauty of God

My intense love for photography began at a young age with landscapes.  I appreciated the fact that they are still, and that God reveals so much of Himself through nature.  Now, as I customize portraiture for people regularly, I feel so blessed to be able to  be reminded continually of the intense beauty of the Lord – His life, His person, the people He’s made in His image.  As I compose images during a shoot and process them afterward, I am just blown away by the incredible beauty God bestows on every person as He forms them, and then by the amazing beauty He brings about in the lives of those surrendered to Him.

Just such a reminder of God’s beauty took place last week when Christine came with me to do her first day of on-location senior portraits.  We went to the UCR Botanical Gardens and had a wonderful morning talking and shooting and exploring many areas of the Gardens together.

Don’t you see the Lord in her?!  Such peace and joy and… beauty.  It’s even more clear when you watch her life.  She has such a gentle spirit.  Thanks for your faithfulness, Christine.

But don’t let that gentleness fool you - she also has a bunch of competitive spunk thrown in!  As we walked, we talked about Christine’s favorite colors, inspired much by the Fall season, so I couldn’t help but capture a glimpse of her bright, fun toes.

So often when I see Christine at church, I think to compliment her on her hair.  It always looks so graceful and feminine, so fitting for this next image.

The day of our shoot it was also fun to talk “model” with Christine and her mom Laura…  Modeling runs in the family, but they revere a very balanced view – only modeling that is appropriate and honoring to the Lord.  Oh, and watching seasons of ANTM gave Christine experience moving and “smizing” – smiling beautifully with her eyes :) .

Christine loves jasmine, and so do I.  This gazebo was covered in it, and it smelled so lovely.

Thanks again, Christine for being my 2010 Baptist Christian School senior representative.   You are full of God’s beauty, inside and out!

All Things Bright and Beautiful…

Almost one month ago, I had the privilege of shooting Rich and Renee’s breathtaking Wedding in Michigan.  A couple of weeks later, Cynthia, Rich’s sister, married the love of her life Alex here in Southern California, and I was honored to capture their amazing day as well.  Every couple is so unique – I love to capture the essence of each as they begin their lifelong journey together.

Alex and Cynthia’s Wedding Day truly was gorgeous – and it wasn’t just because of the careful attention to detail, elegant locations, and bright jewel tones.   Josh and I have been so blessed to share in weddings so full of the love of God.   This type of love truly overflows the heart and settles into the depths of the soul.

The details of the wedding were bright and beautiful, just like the bride.

And here is the spread for the next issue of Modern Bride Magazine…

Just kidding.  But she is stunning, isn’t she?  :)

My second shooter, Ethan Sisson, captured Alex and his groomsmen preparing, along with other great moments throughout the day.  Thanks, Ethan!

The reception was at The Lodge at Four Seasons – it was lovely.

And finally, a moment that had me all teary-eyed: Cynthia dancing with her Dad.  Okay, I have to admit, this moment gets me at every wedding – it’s so symbolic of  all the years of love and sacrifice a parent gives, and the fact that they all build to this moment, to “give” your child (all grown up) to another’s loving care.

Alex and Cynthia, thank you for the honor of capturing your day – I look forward to sharing the rest of your images in your Web Gallery!
